Ingredients:

  • 2 cups plain yogurt
  • 1 cucumber, diced
  • 1 tomato, diced
  • 1/2 red onion, finely chopped
  • 2-3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons fresh mint leaves, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

Prepare the Strained Yogurt:

    • Place the strainer bag over a deep bowl.
    • Pour the plain yogurt into the strainer bag.
    • Gather the edges of the bag and tie them securely.
    • Hang the bag over the sink or a container to allow excess liquid (whey) to drip out.
    • Let it strain for at least 2-3 hours, or until you achieve the desired thickness for your yogurt.

      Prepare the Salad Ingredients:
    • While the yogurt is straining, prepare the rest of the salad ingredients.
    • Dice the cucumber, tomato, and finely chop the red onion.
    • Mince the garlic and chop the fresh mint leaves.

      Combine the Ingredients:
    • Once the yogurt has reached the desired thickness, transfer it to a mixing bowl.
    • Add the diced cucumber, tomato, chopped red onion, minced garlic, and chopped mint leaves to the bowl.
    • Drizzle fresh lemon juice over the mixture.
    • Season with salt and pepper to taste.

      Chill and Serve:
    • Cover the bowl and refrigerate the yogurt salad for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
